Can anyone recommend a good bellydance video for beginner's? Something with drills and technique?

Tue, August 4, 2009 - 5:52 AMMost of my beginner videos are older. Um, Ok ... just plain old! LOL!! So I'm not familiar with a lot of the newer releases.
I like the Cheeky Girls (Michelle Joyce) productions. The Bellydance Crash Course is very good. Drills, Drills, Drills is just that, technique & drills. Some drills might be a bit challenging for a beginner but certainly do-able.
I still like the way Atea breaks down the concept of movement on her Atea and Friends video. There's three dancers, so you can see how the movement looks on different people, the freestyle sections show how different things can be done to the same music, and each section has a short performance afterward focusing on the material just taught (ie, a hip dance, a veil dance). This is an older video so some people might be distracted by the big hair. It does not teach choreography.

Thu, August 6, 2009 - 5:39 PMI think Carolina's videos from Fat Chance are excellent for beginners. Eventhough she's ATS, her drills and techniques are great for any early dancer.
